Although the Sumner Town hall/Community Centre is gone, the Memorial was saved when the building was demolished. Great credit belongs to those who took such care to ensure that the plaque was rescued. I'm not sure of it's current whereabouts but I hope it may be part of the Community garden space that now occupies the site.
This building was badly damaged in Feb 22 2011 earthquake.
