I believe from an interview with someone connected to the RSA i saw on tv not long after the earthquake, that the restaurant of the RSA was closed as it was a Tuesday and not normally open anyway. This helped prevent many injuries and possibly deaths.

Billy I am sure that there were no RSA members hurt , but we do have 166 at last count dead with a total of about 220 people reported missing with Red Cross

Thank you for answering, I was wondering why I did not get information from Sumner, but have just found yours. I would like to establish a link with Sumner RSA and Bangor, N.Ireland, Royal British Legion.
Yes the two fatalities at they site is so sad, were any RSA members injured?

It was so sad to see on BBC news (here in Ireland) the RSA hall in Sumner after the earthquake. I do hope that there was not any loss of life or injury at the site. Wishing you all a speedy recovery. Billy
