New Zealand soldiers on leave in Venice

Two New Zealand soldiers on leave after the Second World War take a sightseeing trip on Venice's Grand Canal. Santa Maria della Salute church is visible behind O M McKinnon (left) and R J A McLeod in the gondola.

Because of the limited availability of shipping after the war, demobilising New Zealand's forces in Italy was a slow process that was not completed until February 1946.
