Container cranes

Two generations of container cranes at Wellington. The crane on the right (since demolished) is a 1970s model, which could typically could lift around 45 tonnes under the hook beam. The bigger crane is a 2000s Liebherr post-panamax crane, capable of lifting about 55 tonnes and intended to service ships bigger than most of the port’s current customers.
