This map locates the 430 cemeteries in Western Europe, the United Kingdom and Ireland which include graves or memorials for members of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force who died during the First World War. For each cemetery (click on list below the map) we have indicated the number of NZEF personnel buried or memorialised there, and provided a link to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website for more information. In the case of cemeteries where three or fewer New Zealanders are buried (blue pins), the individuals are named and links are provided to their service record information on the Cenotaph website.
The grouping of the pins in Europe reflects the key battles in Belgium during 1917 and, further south, France in 1916 and 1918. Those buried in the UK generally died in hospitals of wounds or disease, including men who had been evacuated from Gallipoli in 1915. A separate map showing cemeteries on Gallipoli and in the Middle East can be found here. See also a CWGC cemeteries in New Zealand map.

Hi William - you can get this from the CWGC website - http://www.cwgc.org/ - click on 'Find War Dead' then choose 'Belgium' for country commemorated in and tick 'New Zealand forces'. This will give you a results page which you can then export to a spreadsheet for further data manipulation. Regards, Jamie Mackay
My I have a list of NZ Dead buried in Belgium? This request is a part of a Rotorua WW100 Commemoration Project

Hi Ruth, you can search for their records on Cenotaph Database - from here most names now have links to their full service records: http://muse.aucklandmuseum.com/databases/Cenotaph/locations.aspx?
Let us know if you can't find any of these men and we can check some other sources.
Regards, Jamie Mackay
