Te Ngohi signed the Waikato-Manukau sheet of the Treaty of Waitangi in late March or early April 1840 at Waikato Heads. There were a number of people with this name in the 19th century. It is possible that this Te Ngohi was the father of the Ngāti Maniapoto leader Rewi Maniapoto.
