The First World War Roll of Honour at the Whakatāne Hospital (click on thumbnail for more detail). The inscription at the top refers to the RSA presenting X-ray equipement to the hospital. The memorial was unveiled on 27 April 1924 - see related newspaper report here (PapersPast).
The roll lists those from the district who were killed in the FIrst World War. In includes a separate list for the Maori Contingent - these latter names also appear on a plaque in the Whakatāne Memorial Restroom.
