I viewed this excellent page and saw the cross and sword, I believe the memorial was dedicated in the early 50s.
If so my Father Harry Thoms made the sword when he worked at the blacksmiths that as I recall was on Nile street, I also have an uncle Gerald Harris buried here, I served at his funeral mass and at the graveside.
I have another question, as a kid there was a boat that was on the grass at a location, was it Collingwood street, I always understood it was one of the boats used at Gallipoli, it had bullet holes visible. Michael Thoms
