Waipipi hall in South Auckland. Inside the hall are roll of honour boards for the First and Second World War. The First World War board is for pupils of Waipipi school.
The Waipipi School roll of honour was unveiled at the school by one of the district’s oldest residents, Mrs A. Jones, on 15 October 1919. The finely carved oak board listed the names of 34 former pupils, five of whom had lost their lives (Walter R. Craig, Francis L. Flavell, Henry J. Furniss, Edward Pratt and Clarence Walsh). At an unknown date, the roll of honour was transferred to the local hall, built in 1923.
The Waipipi Second World War roll of honour was unveiled in the Waipipi hall on 25 September 1946. The unveiling was carried out by Mrs Elizabeth Knight, who had lost two sons: Flight Sergeant Jack Knight, missing in action over the Pacific on 28 August 1944, and Flying Officer Robert Knight, killed in action in Europe on 8 February 1945.
