Te Kauwhata War Memorial Domain

Dedication Plaque

After the Second World War, the Te Kauwhata Domain was redeveloped as the Te Kauwhata War Memorial Sports and Recreation Domain. This was formally opened in 1953. However, plans to build a war memorial arch at the entrance never came to fruition, and in 1978 the area was renamed the Te Kauwhata Recreational Reserve. Not until Anzac Day 1989 was a memorial stone dedicated on what once more became known as the Te Kauwhata War Memorial Domain.

The Te Kauwhata Lions Club currently has plans to erect a more substantial ‘all wars’ memorial in the railway reserve at the western entrance to the town.
