The Te Kauwhata First World War and Second World War rolls of honour are held in the Te Kauwhata RSA hall in Mahi Road, not far from the Te Kauwhata War Memorial Domain.
The Te Kauwhata War Memorial Hall was opened in 1923. The First World War roll of honour board unveiled in the hall was headed, ‘Roll of the men from Te Kauwhata who left New Zealand for war’. It listed five men who had died on active service (A. Bothwick, E.E. Mason, F. McIndoe, N. Vale and J.J. Walker) and a further 17 men who had also served overseas (A. Blackwood, A. Boyd, W. Butler, W. Camwell, C. Cave, C. Close, W.K. Dallas, S. Dark, O. Field, M. Fisher, A.M. Gill, W.J. Hewitt, B. McIndoe, H.R. Mason, R.P. Rodda, J. Thompson and W. Wisnesky).
The Second World War roll of honour added another 61 names.
The war memorial hall was demolished in 1980. The roll of honour boards were then transferred to the RSA hall. In 2000 a memorial tablet was added in honour of Private Leonard Manning, a local boy who was killed while serving with the United Nations peacekeeping force in East Timor. The Te Kauwhata RSA no longer meets regularly, and since 1989 the hall has been home to the Te Kauwhata Lions Club.
