In the above photo the soldier siting on the right of the photo is my father Clarence Egmont Arthur (Sam). His army number was 4990. You can see binoculars around his neck. He got these from a dead German paratrooper and I still have them at home. He died in 1971. Hope this is of use to you.

Have been attempting to make contact with survivors, next of kin, crew, ANYONE who was on board HMS PHOEBE 43 ...evacuated from SFAKIA, CRETE, and arrived ALEXANDRIA, EGYPT. JUNE lst, 1941...Battle of Crete...THANK YOU
