J H Honeyfield was born 23 August 1925, the son of Walter Augustus Cannock Honeyfield and his wife Dorothy Stephanie Tylee. Her father George Richardson Tylee farmed on Kahui Road. J H was named Henry James, but known as Jim. He was my mother's first cousin. Jim was killed in action on HMNZS Achilles, Guadal Canal on 5 January 1943, and was buried at sea. Royal NZ Navy, Boy 1st Class, service number 2755.

W.W Rangi is one of my great uncles, Walker Rangi, the Rangi Family lived in Rahotu for many years on Kahui road and our family urupa still remains. Walker is said to haver fought in the maori Battalion in italy and was killed in action in Faenza, Italy.

the name of T MORGAN on the Memorial Gates of Rahotu School belong to my Granduncle. He died during WW1, somewhere in Belgium of France according to the Commonwealth Graves Commission. he is remembered on the MESSINES RIDGE (N.Z.) MEMORIAL. He married Florence Catherine JAMES on 6 July 1916. Enlisted 24 July 1916. Died 7 June 1917. Florence and Thomas had a daughter who died of gastro enteritis on 9 Dec 1916. Florence remarried to James Preston GLENTWORTH in 1920.
