Action from North Auckland’s unsuccessful Ranfurly Shield challenge at Eden Park, 20 September 1975. J.S. McLachlan, the Auckland wing, is sandwiched between two North Aucklanders, with Brian Going moving in for a high tackle. The match continued a trend of hard-fought encounters between the two unions, with Auckland winning 22–16. While North Auckland was unsuccessful in this challenge, it enjoyed Ranfurly Shield victories over its city cousins in 1960 and 1971.
