Mt Hobson War Memorial Seat

In 1948 members of the Remuera Garden Club began gathering daffodil bulbs for a mass planting on Mt Hobson in honour of local servicemen who had died in the Second World War. In September 1958 a stone memorial seat was erected overlooking the daffodil field. The stone for the seat was donated by Mrs H.H. Corbin. The brass plaque set into the seat reads: “This seat was given by residents of Remuera in memory of boys who played on the slopes of the mountain and who made the supreme sacrifice in World War II.”
