Milton Memorial Civic Centre (former)

Image

The Milton Memorial Civic Centre was opened in the main street of Milton on 24 March 1957. The centre included Plunket rooms, a rest room and a community hall. The building was restored for community use after being damaged by fire in 1968. However, its recent history is obscure. It seems to have become redundant after the opening of the Tokomairiro Recreation Centre elsewhere in the town in 2002, and was described as being empty and unused in 2010 (Fiona Jack, Living Halls, 2011, p. 248). After standing vacant for some years, the building was sold to a private buyer in 2017.
