The Mangorei Combined District Memorial Hall Society was formed in 1946. This opened the Mangorei Memorial Hall at the intersection of Junction Road (SH3) and Kent Road in 1952. The roll of honour in the entrance porch is a polished black granite plaque inscribed IN MEMORY OF / - / THE MEN OF THE DISTRICT / WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE / GREAT WAR AND WORLD WAR II. The 18 men listed in fact came from Lower Mangorei and vicinity; the names of Upper Mangorei servicemen are found on the rolls of honour displayed in the Upper Mangorei Hall and Sports Centre, several kilometres away.
