Recently, when the Clutha District Council moved the restore a number of the region's memorials, the original Katea memorial was found to be beyond repair. Constructing a new memorial (illustrated in the top image above) the remnants of the original memorial (illustrated in the lower images) was buried at the foot of the new memorial.
