Kaitaia school roll of honour showing names of ex-pupils who served in the First World War. The roll appears to include men who served but returned from the war as well as those killed.
Information from a Northland Age article of 1920 notes that the Kaitaia School Roll was officially unveiled on Anzac Day 1920 by Councillor H. B. Matthews following a parade at the Agricultural Ground (now A&P Grounds). The roll hung at the school beside a large picture of the late Head Teacher, Lieutenant J. J. Bishop, who was killed at Passchendaele. Another Northland Age article from October 1919 reported that the memorial roll was being made by Messrs Winks & Hall, woodwork specialists of Auckland. The cost was 23/9/0. The roll now resides in the care of the Far North Museum (Te Ahu).
