Makeshift grave marker made from the back of a Kodak camera. It was used to mark the graves of two British troopers killed during the Ottoman raid on Katia, April 1916. The men were part of a small force of British mounted troops protecting a party of Royal Engineers sinking wells at the oasis when the surprise attack was launched by the Turks.
The inscription reads: 'Here lies the bodies of 2 of the Worcester Yeomanry killed in action on Sunday, April 23rd Easter Sunday'.
