
HMAS Australia berthed at King's Wharf in Wellington, 1933. Australia operated two heavy – or 'Treaty' – cruisers. These British-designed County-class warships were built to the 10,000 tons limit set by the 1922 Washington Naval Treaty and mounted 8-inch (203-mm) guns in twin turrets.
