
The grave of 40-year-old Major John Plimmer at Suda Bay War Cemetery in Crete, 2001. Wellington-born Plimmer was acting commanding officer of 6th (NZ) Field Ambulance on Crete. He was killed on the opening day of the invasion, 20 May 1941, after German paratroops landed among his unit east of Canea.
