Farrier Sgt D.A. Devon was my great uncle. As well as him 4 of his brothers: Walter, Arthur (also known as Alfred) Angus,& Robert also served in WW1. Walter had served in the South African War (Boer War) then moved to America and at the outbreak of WW1 enlisted in the British Army (Cheshire Regiment.)

The Memorial gates and Great War Plaque was unveiled on Anzac Day 1938. The WWII plaque was put up in 1947.
