Of note is the fact that Pte Ian Holms was the first NZ soldier to be KIA while on duty at Maidstone England, October 1940, serving with 22nd NZ Bttn. The Rev Keith Elliott VC had vacated the barn where the incident occurred only the night before.
Professor Ian Robert Holms Falloon MD D.Sc a nephew was named in honour of his uncle and went on to become a world authority in the treatment of schizophrenia and community health.
