Ettie Rout, without a hat in the centre, photographed with the first group of her New Zealand Volunteer Sisterhood to go to Egypt in October 1915. The women wore long blue dresses, white aprons and panama hats. Eileen Neilson stands in the back row at the far right. On Rout's left is Agnes Kerr, wearing glasses, with Marion Higgins on her right. Dora Murch is at the right of the front row. In the back row, Emily Leggatt is third from left, and Adelaide (Ada) Ballantine third from right.
