Deborah and Alma war memorial. This memorial is a 3.5 metre tall granite square obelisk on five concrete steps. It records 22 names of those from the district killed in war: 17 First World War and 5 Second World War.
The names include Sergeant Donald . F. Brown who became the first member of the New Zealand forces to win a VC on the Western Front for his actions at the Somme on 15 Septemeber 1916. He was killed in battle two weeks later.
