Awhitū First World War memorial.

On 15 November 1920 the Awhitu First World War memorial was unveiled in the Awhitū Domain, Awhitū Central. This was a granite obelisk inscribed with a roll of honour listing 41 men from the district who had served in the war, including the names of eight fallen. The memorial was later moved from the domain to a site near the local cemetery in order to make way for tennis courts.
