The 19th Battalion and Armoured Regiment Association memorial boulder and plaque in Hataitai, Wellington.
The Evening Post of 23 March 1966 showed the memorial under construction and stated: ‘the 19th Battalion and Armoured Regiment Association has arranged with the City Council reserves department to have trees planted nearby to commemorate the places where the regiment served, including an Italian cypress, an olive and a Lebanon cedar. The association, which is meeting the cost of constructing the memorial, hopes wives, parents and families of those who died in service with the unit will feel they have a part in the memorial. It will be dedicated about October 2, at the time of the annual reunion.’
