In the late 1960s A.H. & A.W. Reed published a souvenir pictorial booklet called Cook Strait seaway.

When crossing Cook Strait, between the two main islands of New Zealand, you travel a route as romantic as any in the world ... To the many people who tour by motor car these vessels [Aramoana and Aranui] have opened new horizons.

Once on board, the feverish home-leaving preparations are forgotten and in a relaxed mood the travellers enjoy the splendid facilities of a vessel especially built to cater for the Cook Strait journey.
