This initiative is such great news for the teaching of New Zealand History. There's so much online for us to use with our classes and it looks as if this is going to help us pull all that together. I particularly like the stuff on the Musket Wars, which I will use with my Year 13s at the beginning of next year. Book the data projector now!

I really like the "this week in NZ history section" of the site. This will be great for starting lessons and also for planning the year, so that my programme can coincide with some of these anniversaries.

We are really lucky at Wellington College because we have a large junior History programme and next year, we are going to an extended sweep of New Zealand history using "Frontier of Dreams" and all the online resources that are available in the Classroom and in the other Culture and Heritage sites - NZHistory.net and Te Ara.

So thanks MCH for pushing this initiative. I'm sure that it's going to be a great asset to all teachers of History and Social Studies.

Agreed, Gregor - the teaching resources put up so far look very promising. Look forward to seeing more where these came from.
This Week in History looks like good value too - nice to see a bit of recognition for Bob Fitzsimmons, the Timaru boy come good.
