I am wondering when the British invaded NZ in 1792 why did they kill all of the seal population and why did the Maoris have there wars in Summer i would be great if u could answer these two questions thanx |

Not sure where you got the idea the British invaded in 1792, though a sealing gang was dropped off in Dusky Sound in November that year - here is some info on sealing:

I don't know where this may have come from, but you may find that Taua (war parties) traditionally travelled when they were not needed at home... ie when crops could be left untended... it seems that when the more prolific and easier to maintain potato arived did Taua range more widely. I think Ballara has made the point that before the potato and musket most fighting was between neighbouring tribes.
