In terms of 'grassroots rugby' I am interested in finding out more about the Dean Cup involving the Taranaki hill-country towns, Toko, Strathmore and Whangamomona, in 1907. I understand that the cup was originally presented by Mrs Athalinda Dean in 1906. It was supposed to be awarded for a cricket match but because of poor playing conditions this was cancelled and replaced by a rugby match. I'd love to hear more about this competition and even better see some recent photos.
