The Classroom supports the teaching of the broad survey, New Zealand in the 19th history, at NCEA level 3. Schools currently not teaching this can use the material to support internal assessment in their programmes.

3.4 Examine a significant decision made by people in history, in an essay
This standard involves writing an essay describing factors that contributed to a significant decision made in an historical setting, evaluating the decision, and recognising historical narratives in relation to the decision. In this instance the significant decision involves migration to New Zealand. Primary resources will support this feature.
