- Antarctic Heritage Trust
(AHT) site. NZ-based international trust which has undertaken responsibility
for the preservation and protection of the historic sites of Antarctica, and
in particular the 'heroic-era' bases in the Ross Sea region which have very
strong links to NZ. The site provides a variety of information about these
sites and the events associated with them.
- Mathematicians biographical index - includes biographical and
bibliographical information on mathematicians connected with New Zealand including
Duncan Sommerville, Alexander Aitken and Vaughn Jones. Part of the MacTutor History of Mathematics archive.
- NZ Historical Data - a site created for providing information
about lesser known archives and unusual sources. So far it contains annotated
chronologies on 19th and 20th century Earthquakes and on the Vaccination
for Smallpox (1848-1913). Recent updates include lists and information about
troops serving in the 29th Reinforcements, Wellington Infantry Regiment,
Otago Infantry Regiment, Canterbury Infantry Regiment and NZ Pioneer (Maori)
Battalion durng the First World War. Site

- Music and Theatre in NZ - a site run by Adrienne Simpson, a professional
writer who specialises in musical and theatrical subjects. Most of her work
has been on New Zealand topics and her preference is for the 19th century,
although she has also worked on 20th century material. Site includes useful
reference guides to book, newspaper and manuscript collections.
- The Jackie Ruru Story - about the young Maori rugby player of
Te Aitanga A Mahaki descent, who died whilst playing for East Coast Maori
in 1934. Written by Stephen Robertson and hosted on the Wellington College
Old Boys - University Rugby club site.

- Technological Innovation in New Zealand.
Excellent new site containing historical information on a wide range of technological
developments including: steam railways, frozen meat, grasslands, the dairy
industry, forestry, hydroelectric power, geothermal energy, the Cook Strait
link, the North Island Main Trunk Line, ironsands, electric fences, Hamilton
jets and aerial topdressing. Also includes biographical references to a range
of NZers involved with technological development and articles relating to

- Automatic Totalisator
history - covering the invention of the world's first automatic totalisator
in 1913 and it's subsequent development. Australian site, but includes historical

- site provided by Kath Clark and David Verran. Includes a biography of the
recently deceased 1951 Waterfront Dispute leader, Jock Barnes, and a collection

- Anthony Wilding: Wimbledon
Champion 1910-1914 - site devoted to New Zealand's most successful tennis
player. Created by members of the Wilding family.
- A history of Gilbert
and Sullivan with particular reference to Australia and New Zealand. -
The main period covered is from 1860-1910 and in the section titled "Down
Under in the 19th Century" there is an extensive history of theatre in this
part of the world. There are many historic photographs and the original reviews

arts in New Zealand - provided by Creative New Zealand. The site includes
historical surveys of Maori
art and Pacific
Islands art.
- Dictionary
of NZ Map-Makers - provides brief biographical notes and map-making data
on early cartographers and publishers who produced maps of New Zealand or
world and Pacific maps that portray New Zealand or a part of New Zealand.
Although the list focuses on the period 1642 to 1850, a number of important
map-makers who worked around 1860 are included. Includes extensive bibliographic

- The Reserve Bank
of New Zealand Inflation Calculator - as a part of its statutory responsibility
for price stability, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand has provided a web
based 'Inflation Calculator'. Historians will find it useful to convert
an earlier price into a current one, thus giving readers a better sense
